Two Friends and Two Sisters – 1

The past few posts I have focused on a specific person or a married couple.  As I was contemplating how to relate the following story or I should say stories, I decided to take a different approach.   I am going to break it up into parts, starting from the beginning and post short stories about the lives of the people in the following family tree.  I believe that this will make the reading easier, using the KISS principle (keep is simple, stupid).

This story starts back in Wales in the 1820s and 1830s.  As I start the story I will go back before that time to give it some pretext as to what live was like in the Wales area and James and John started the lives.

I am pulling information from a thick book entitled, “James Henry Denning, Sr.   Family History”.

James Henry and Rosanna Denning are my Great Grandfather and Grandmother, my fathers grandparents.  James Henry Denning died in 1919 and my father, Richard Telford Denning was not born until 1934.  As I read and relate, I realize how blessed I am to know and associate with all my grandchildren.  And to state the obvious, how blessed I am to know, love and associate with my children.  These histories help me to realize how blessed I am to have this relationship

The two friends are James Denning and John Jones Williams.  The two sisters are Sarah Merrifield and Jane Merrifield.  As you can see above, James and Sarah were married and one of my previous posts talks about them.  What you don’t see is that John Jones Williams’ first wife was Jane Merrifield, the sister of Sarah Merrifield.  So, as you can see from the chart James Henry Denning, the son of James and Sarah Denning marries the daughter of John Williams and Mary Jones, John’s second plural wife.  And though, James Henry and Rosanna were not blood relations, Rosanna’s half siblings from her father’s first marriage were James Henry’s cousins.

The following two pictures are of John Jones William and his second wife Mary Jones Williams.  One of my previous posts focuses on John’s parents, Daniel and Ruth Williams.

One, last comment for this post.  As I read through this ancestral chain, I see a lot of women’s maiden names matching their married names.  I can only imagine the difficulty of trying to keep all these straight when doing genealogical work.
