And this picture is me trying to add a little color to the photo

Daniel and Ruth were married 18 December 1802, he was 19 and she was 22.  They had 8 children, all born on their farm called Blackthorn in Breconshire, Wales.

Ruth was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 4 November 1849 and Daniel was baptized in 1853, just before they sailed to America.  The stated reason for Daniel’s delay of baptism was because if he became a member, nobody would hire him for work and they needed the money.   He was a basket weaver, farmer, and gardener.

They paid their own fare for the trip to America without help from the church.  They sailed to America in mid February 1853 arriving in New Orleans and then went on to Salt Lake.

At the time of their arrival in America, Daniel we 70 and Ruth was 73.  They had purchased a horse and wagon, but the wagon broke down and Daniel ended walking the distance leading the horse while Ruth rode.
